~Switch Off and Recharge~

Each individual has different expectations from life. Whether that would be owning valuable assets, being rich, have a high status job or making even more money, all these have become such an important part of our stressful everyday routine that we forget one thing. And that is, switching off. Recharging your batteries for a few days and visiting someplace where the Wi-Fi is weak and the beauty of your surroundings is more powerful and alluring than ever before.

Like my mother always says, ‘I’d rather have a bunch of stamps in my passport than a house full of stuff that I will never quite use’. Travelling makes one forget, discover new cultures, appreciate what life has to offer, admire the divine wonders our planet earth possesses and combine everything into one big melting pot.

I have recently visited Crete (Greece) where the culture is rich, the traditional Greek food is mouth-watering and the people are warm and welcoming. When driving through Crete’s roads what I witnessed was beyond beautiful. Words cannot begin to describe the captivating views from the mountains, the dazzling blue of the sky and sea and the refreshing shade from the trees that exuded a cooling sensation amidst the warm weather. Everyday was a different day, a different beach, a different place but the same feeling of being surrounded by this luscious and golden sand that run smoothly through my fingers and allowed me to enjoy the simple pleasures that life has to offer.

Suddenly, I was in a state of sweet serenity, tranquillity and happiness that only travelling can create. I felt mentally and physically ready to return to my everyday life, equipped with new experiences, new stories to share and recharged batteries.

So the moral of the story is what Mark Twain once said, ‘twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, Dream, Discover’.

Live your life before it is too late, stop worrying and love like there is no tomorrow.19718795_1427381517348933_1211116354_o~Picture: Seitan Limania, Crete Greece~

  1. I did start regretting a few years, certainly only the things that I did NOT do. Then, I made a list (because I refuse to believe it is too late) and am trying to reach out for those new experiences. Great post and a wonderful blog that I look forward to reading more of.

    1. Good for you 🙂 Some people are just alive and forget to live. And life is a precious gift that can be taken away with the blink of an eye as years pass us by and we don’t even notice.

I do wish you the best and thank you for your comment. Bless!
